As far a music goes some people are pretty serious about their jams! Delving deep into dusty crates and vinyl bunkers of record stores worldwide, Melbourne/New York duo Hey Convict's! prized record collections are almost as serious as their love of facial hair grooming. After their highly acclaimed "Time to noodle" compilation (a pioneering voyage into yacht rock and beyond) many moons ago, the pair have gone on to do re-edits for New York's RVNG & golf channel label's DJ and trendy parties on rooftops, continue to push the envelope rediscovering you dads long lost record collection and making it cool again and most importantly trim their beards. Tamas Jones is the melbourne contingent of Hey Convict! he plays at Sorry Grandma on a saturday night residing in the parlor. Don't be shy next time you see him ask him for advice on how to get your beard as bushy as his! Sorry Grandma! Podcast Aram Chapers vs Andee Frost live mixing 3am: 2nd of jan 2010 after the partiesJanuary 27, 2010 08:58 PM PST
Alot of people claim to be great, the reality is not that many of them live up to their claims. Not just claiming to, but striving to find out "what happened!?" on a daily basis is even tougher. However it's something these 2 high profile starf%^$rs are accustomed to. After both having an EXTREMELY BUSY New Years respectively (Aram played 2 gigs in Sydney followed by a few plane rides and a boat party in melbs & Andee had played 6 gigs in the 24hrs preceding this clash of the titans) Chabdjian and The Frost converged behind the dj booth downstairs at around around 3am on the 2nd of january. They shook hands, knocked back a shot or Agavero and laid down this superb mix for your ears. it's so superb you could even say it's captured the very spirit of clubbing at Sorry Grandma! a big call yes, we could say it's gonna change your life, it probably will! behold the best Melbourne has to offer, this sh&^ is real! enjoy. Simone xx Sorry Grandma! Podcast OtologicJanuary 12, 2010 11:15 PM PST
There is often a debate as to what will be the next big thing in Melbourne - a city overrun by hipsters but ruled by no one! where a new cafe/garage/graphics firm/t-shirt designer/fashion blogger come photographer pops up what seems to be weekly and genres are thrown around like midgets at a dwarf tossing competition, will tropical techno ever make it big ? is goth house ever gonna be anything but scary? and how idiosyncratic is industrial? many seem to pose pretend or think they know what is what and where to get whats next. to those of you who fall into that lifestyle choice, I advise you to go have a listen to Otologic. Still mere dj infants they never fail to make an impression. Whether they're playing in one of Melbournes renowned rave caves from C Grade to Third Class, trying to warm down for luminaries like Erol Alkan & the Idjut Boys or simply tinkling the tiffany lamps downstairs at Sorry Grandma! early on a Saturday morning, they handle it all with the ease & finesse of a disco vet. Melbourne it's time to sit up and take note - Otologic are the future of underground dance duo's! - Andee Frost x - simone is on holiday Sorry Grandma!
